Crunch’N Nutter Mixed Nut Candy Recalled For Undeclared Peanuts

undeclared-peanutsMerrell Food Group of Dalton, WI and Rise’n Roll Specialties are recalling “Crunch’N Nutter Mixed Nut” candy because it contains an undeclared allergen, peanuts. People with peanut allergies should not eat this product as they risk serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they do. No adverse reactions have been reported.

The recalled products were sold  in a 4oz. green and yellow plastic bag and sent to Wisconsin and New Jersey for distribution. They are marked with a “sell by” date of June 1st 2014 or before and the UPC number 861522000042.

The recall was issued after inspectors from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)  found the undeclared peanut allergen in the product. The problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging process and has been corrected.  Product manufactured after January 15th 2014 does not contain peanuts.
