Fisher Chopped Walnuts Recalled for Possible Salmonella

John B. Sanfilippo & Son is recalling Fisher Chopped Walnuts and Fisher Pecan Cookie Pieces because they may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. No reports of illnesses have been received to date in connection with the consumption of these products.

Fisher Chopped Walnuts Salmonella RecallThe products are Fisher Chopped Walnuts in 8 ounce packages with various UPC numbers and best by dates, and Pecan Cookie Pieces in 8 ounce sizes with various UPC numbers and best by dates. You can see the list of products at the FDA web site along with more information. The products were sold at stores in Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. You can also see pictures of product labels at the FDA site.

If you purchased any of these products, do not eat them. Discard in a double bagged container or return to the place of purchase for a refund. FDA sampling in the retail marketplace revealed that a package of Fisher Chopped Walnuts contained Salmonella bacteria.
