In Canada, Cheese Recalled for Staphylococcus Toxin

The Canadian Fodo Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Ferme Floralpe Inc. are recalling L’Alpette cheese from the market because it may contain the toxin produced by Staphylococcus bacteria. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of this product.

The recalled product is L’Alpette soft ripened sheep cheese in 160 gram containers. The code on the product is Lot 333 Best Before: 14 10 31. There is no UPC code. It was sold at the retail level in Ontario and Quebec. Food contaminated with Staphylococcus toxin will not look, smell, or taste spoiled. Symptoms of Staphylococcus food poisoning include nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and fever.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Discard or return to the place of purchase for a refund.
