In Canada, Update on Le Moutier Cheese Recalled for Staphylococcus

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Choices Markets are updating the recall of Le Moutier Goat Cheese for Staphylococcus toxin contamination. No illnesses have been reported associated with the consumption of this product.

The newly recalled product is Le Moutier Goat Cheese in various size packages. The UPC numbers begin with 235881. The codes on the product include best before dates up to and including 2014SE19.  The product was distributed in British Columbia.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Discard in a closed container or return to the place of purchase for a refund. Food contaminated with Staphylococcus toxin will not look, smell, or taste spoiled. And the toxin produced by this bacterium is not easily destroyed at cooking temperatures. Symptoms of this poisoning include nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and fever.
