The USDA has released a retail distribution list for beef products produced by PFP Enterprises of Texas that were recalled for the Big Six Shiga toxin-producing E. coli bacteria (STEC). No illnesses have been reported to date in association with this recall. Use the pack dates and other identifying information to see if you bought any of the recalled products. This list, according to the USDA, “may not include all retail locations that have received the recalled product or may include retail locations that did not actually receive the recalled product.”
The stores include Brookshire Food Stores in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas; Kroger in Louisiana and Texas; and Walmart stores in Texas. The beef was sold at Super 1 Foods at 3916 NE Evangeline Thruway in Carencro, Louisiana.
The stores in Texas where the beef was sold include Market Latina on Green Oaks in Arlington, Webb Chapel in Dallas, NE 28th Street in Fort Worth, and S 1st Street Ste 227 in Garland. They were also sold at Market Latina on E. Irving Blvd. and S. Nursery Road in Irving.
And the Super 1 Foods in Texas where the beef was sold include Forest Hill Drive in Forest Hill; Wesley in Greenville; W. Loop 281 in Longview, 208 N. Central in McKinney, Jefferson Park in MT. Pleasant, Richmond Road in Texarkana, and Troup Hwy in Tyler. Finally, Fresh stores on Old Jacksonville in Tyler carried the recalled beef.
If you purchased any of the recalled products, do not eat them. Return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
I called my local smiths in albuquerque, nm to see what I should do if I suspected the beef that I purchased the day before was part of the recall issued out by the news here. I was passed around to three different people and got excuses that it was not what I might have purchased. Instead, regardless of what I purchased I should have heard a we stand by what we sell and if you are not happy then bring it back type of response. Not excuses like the it’s not what you got type of statement I am going to return the food “ground beef” item anyways. I object to excuse reaction and the complete lack of educated responses that I did receive. Any store of any origin should stand behind the food items they sell to the public and especially the ones that are marketed under the home born brand (Kroger) sold by the national chain conglomerates that they are in the United States of America.
You’re right – if I bought one of those recalled beef products in one of those states, I’d return it too.
