Still More Retail Locations for Recalled Rancho Feeding Beef

The USDA has issued more retail locations for stores, food shelves, churches, and other locations that may have received the recalled Rancho Feeding Corporation beef. The new list is 68 pages long, with more than 1600 stores. The list is arranged alphabetically by state, then alphabetically by city.

Beef CarcassThe large nationwide, state-wide, or area-wide chains that sold the beef include Associated Fresh Markets in Utah, Bel Air in California, Food 4 Less in California, Illinois, Indiana, and Nevada, Foodsco in California, Fred Meyer in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington state, Fry’s Food and Drug in Arizona, Fry’s Marketplace in Arizona, and Jay C in Indiana. Other stores include Kroger in Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas, Nob Hill Foods in California, Pastoral Plate in San Francisco, Quality Food Center in Washington state, Raley’s in California and Nevada, Ralphs in California, Ralphs Fresh Fare in California, Ruler in Indiana, Smith’s in Arizona, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming, and Stater Bros. in California.

The remaining retailers are in Alabama, Arizona, California (the vast majority), Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Washington state, and Wyoming. But the USDA has said that the beef was sold nationwide; stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

The beef was made from diseased and unsound animals and was processed without federal inspection. That means it is adulterated and unfit for human consumption. No illnesses have been reported in connection with these recalls, but we don’t know exactly why the animals were sick in the first place.
