Hannaford Recalls Pine Nuts for Salmonella

Hannaford Supermarkets and Superior Nut and Candy are recalling pine nuts because they may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of this product.

Recall SignageRoutine testing by the FDA discovered the pathogenic bacteria in one package of the pine nuts. They are sold in a 4 ounce package in the produce department with a clear package front and a tan-colored label on the back. The label has Pine Nuts as the only ingredient. The UPC number is 72543920016 and a best by date of November 17, 2015. The announcement on the Hanford recall page says that the best by date is November 11, 2015 as well; we don’t know which date is correct. Other sources have stated that the best by dates are from October 22, 2015 through December 27, 2015.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Discard in a sealed container or return to the place of purchase for a refund.
