Five people who visited restaurants in the Westin Verasa Napa Hotel in Napa County, California have confirmed cases of Hepatitis A, the health department reports. The exposure took place between Feb. 9 and Feb. 26 at La Toque restaurant and BANK Café and Bar.The health department has not yet determined the source.
Those who may have been exposed should put extra effort into hand washing watch themselves for symptoms over the next 50 days. Symptoms of a Hepatitis A infection include: fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, joint pain, dark urine, clay-colored stools and yellow skin or eyes. Anyone who develops these symptoms should see a doctor immediately. Symptoms of Hepatitis A usually start 28 days after exposure, but can appear anywhere from 15-50 days after exposure.
Hepatitis A is a contagious liver disease that is spread from person to person and through contaminated food and beverages. Infected people don’t always have symptoms and can be contagious before symptoms appear.
