Jack ‘N Jill Chicharron Recalled in Canada for Undeclared Wheat

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Shiny Star Canada are recalling Jack ‘N Jill brand Chicharron products because they contain wheat that is not declared on the label. Anyone with celiac disease or an allergy to wheat could have a serious allergic reaction if they eat this product. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recalled products are Jack ‘N Jill brand. All codes where wheat is not declared on the label are recalled. They are both sold in 90 gram packages. The first is Chicharron ni Mang Juan – Espesyal Suka’t Sili with UPC number 4 800016 110528, and the second recalled product is Chicharron ni Mang Juan – Sukang Paombong with UPC number 4 800016 110511. They were sold in Ontario and possibly nationally at the retail level.

You can see pictures of the recalled products at the CFIA web site. If you purchased them and cannot eat wheat, do not eat them. Discard or return to the place of purchase for a refund.
