La Terra Fina Recalls Spinach Dip for Possible Listeria

La Terra Fina is recalling its Organic Spinach Dip because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. The product was sold in Bay Area Costco Stores. No illnesses have been reported to date, but listeriosis, the illness caused by this bacteria, can take up to 70 days to manifest.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Discard in a sealed container or return to the place of purchase for a refund. Then clean your refrigerator with a mild bleach solution to kill any possible bacteria.

If you ate this product, watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. Those symptoms include flulike fever, muscle aches, upset stomach, diarrhea, stiff neck, headache, loss of balance, confusion, or convulsions. In pregnant women, listeriosis can cause stillbirth, miscarriage, and infection of the newborn baby even though she may only be mildly ill.
