More Sprouted Chia Seed Recalled for Salmonella in Canada

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Everspring Farms Ltd. are recalling more Back 2 the Garden and Now Real Food sprouted chia seed and chia seed powder for possible Salmonella contamination. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of these products.

The recalled products are Back 2 the Garden Organic Sprouted Chia Seed Powder sold in 200 gram containers. The codes on the recalled products are Lot #EVCHO150430-08 BB/MA JUN-2016, Lot #EVCHO150608-03 BB/MA AUG-2016, Lot #EVCHO150715-04 BB/MA SEP-2016, and Lot #EVCHO150715-012 BB/MA OCT-2016. The UPC number is 6 27843 15900 1.

Also recalled is Now Real Food “Sprouted” Milled Chia Seed in 227 gram containers. The codes on that product are EVCHO150715-010
BB/MA SEP-2016 and the UPC number is 7 33739 92070 6.

These products were sold nationwide at the retail level. If you purchased these products, do not consume them. Discard in a sealed package or return to the place of purchase for a full refund. You can see pictures of product labels at the CFIA web site.
