Peru Brand Corn-Maiz Mote Recalled for Undeclared Sulfites

Peru Food Imports Inc. of Fairview, NJ is recalling Peru Food Mote Corn-Maiz Mote because it may contain undeclared sulfites. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to sulfites should not consume this product as they run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

RecallThe recalled Peru Food Mote Corn-Maiz Mote was distributed in 15 oz plastic bags, with item # 51962,  Lot #38-16, Expiration Date: 04/30/2016 and UPC 8 12125 00962 8. The product was distributed to NY and CT through supermarkets.

No illnesses had been reported at the time of the recall. The problem was discovered during routine sampling and analysis by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors.
