Houdini Recalls Blue Cheese Savory Twists and Gift Baskets for Salmonella

Houdini Inc of California is recalling limited quantities of Blue Cheese Savory Twists because they were made with Valley Milk Products that have been recalled for possible Salmonella contamination. No pathogenic bacteria have been found in the powdered milk or in the Twists, but the recall is being issued out of an abundance of caution. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of these products.

The recall is for Blue Cheese Savory Twists in 7 ounce boxes. The recall affects the 7 ounce Blue Cheese Savory Twists sold in stores from September 1, 2016 to December 12, 2016.

This recall has also forced the recall of many brands of gift boxes that contain the product. These gift baskets were sold from September 1, 2016 to December 12, 2016. You can see the long list of products recalled, along with the lot code number at the FDA web site.

The gift basket brands include Wine Country Wine Trio, Cakebread Cellars Napa Valley Duet, The Classic, Lasting Impression, Wine Country Extravaganza, Stag’s Leap Winery Collection, Vintners Path Chardonnay Season’s Greetings, California Wine Crate, Sam’s Club The Executive, Costco Burgundy and Bronze Metal Basket, and many others.

The Blue Cheese Savory Twists were packaged in a Red Package, a Copper Package, and a Green Package. If the foil package does NOT have one of these two lot codes on the pouch, the item is not part of the recall. The internal package code dates areĀ 1831602 XX (XX=last 2 digits refer to specific packaging machine) andĀ 2431602 XX (XX=last 2 digits refer to specific packaging machine).

If you purchased any of these products,do not eat them. Throw them away or return them to the store where you bought them for a refund. There is no issue with any of the other food products in the gift baskets. If you gave the gift baskets to someone, let them know they need to discard the Blue Cheese Savory Twists.
