JM Exotic Foods Recalls Tumeric for Lead

JM Exotic Foods, Inc. is recalling ground turmeric because samples from its  supplier were found to contain elevated levels of lead. The recalled product was sold only to a farmer’s market in Doraville, GA from May until August 2016.

tumeric-recall-leadConsumers who have purchased this product should not eat it as lead can accumulate in the body over time causing serious sometimes permanent adverse health consequences.

The recalled products were sold in 4 oz. clear plastic clamshells with the item number 1153 and the lots 16131185 and 16165184.

At the time of the recall, no illnesses had been reported.
