Pilgrim’s Pride Expands Poultry Recall for Third Time

Pilgrim’s Pride is expanding their recall of poultry products for possible foreign material contamination for the third time. The first recall was for 40,780 pounds of fully cooked chicken nugget products. The first expansion on April 26, 2016 recalled an additional 4,524,980 pounds of fully cooked chicken products. The second expansion on May 6, 2016 recalled an additional 608,764 pounds of the product. This third expansion recalls an additional 376,380 pounds of product. The total number of pounds of product recalled is 5,550,904 pounds.

These chicken products were produced on 7/11/2015, 9/15/2015, and 9/16/2015. You can see the long list of recalled products at the USDA web site, along with sell by dates and package sizes.  Products recalled include Fully Cooked Breaded Diced Chicken Leg Meat, Chicken Leg Meat Strips, Breaded Chicken Nuggets, Breaded Strip Chicken Patties, among others.

The brands recalled are Pierce, Sweet Georgia, Pilgrim’s Pride, Green Dragon, and Gold Kist Farms. They were shipped for institutional use nationwide. Schools have purchased these products. The recalled products all have the establishment number “EST. 20728” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products. If you purchased any of these products, do not eat them or serve them to others. Return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
