3 Brands of Trader Joe’s Apple Sauce Recalled

Trader Joe's Applesauce RecallThe U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reports that Manzana Products Co., Inc., manufacturer of 3 brands of Trader Joe’s Apple Sauce, has issued a voluntary recall of these products. These three brands of unsweetened apple sauce may be contaminated with glass pieces.

Nation-wide recalls are in effect for two of the brands: 1) Trader Joe’s Organic Unsweetened Apple Sauce (UPC: 00194777, “Best Before” Date Code: ALL CODES through October 06, 2018) and 2) Trader Joe’s First Crush Unsweetened Gravenstein Apple Sauce (UPC: 00015905, “Best Before” Date Code: ALL CODES through August 08, 2018). These products are packaged in 24-ounce glass jars; the “Best Before” dates are stamped on the lids.

The third recall is for Trader Joe’s All Natural Unsweetened Apple Sauce distributed in the states of Arizona, Alabama, California, Colorado, Idaho, Louisiana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, and Washington. This product, also packaged in 24-ounce glass jars, is stamped with a UPC of 00014359; “Best Before” Date Codes encompass ALL CODES through December 16, 2018.

Product consumers initially reported having detected the foreign glass material in jars of apple sauce they had purchased at Trader Joe’s. All affected products have been removed from the shelves and destroyed. If you purchased these apple sauce brands, you should either dispose of them or return them to the store for a full refund.
