Coborn’s, Inc. has issued a recall of its “AMERICAN RYE BREAD” and “CARAWAY RYE BREAD” products. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), these two rye bread brands may contain multiple allergens; the milk, soy, and eggs used in their manufacture were erroneously omitted from the ingredients list and allergy statements on the loaves’ packaging.
Distributed to Coborn’s and Cash Wise grocery stores in the states of Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota, to Marketplace Foods stores in western Wisconsin, and to CobornsDelivers in the Twin Cities Metro area, the bread packages affected by the recall are stamped with an expiration date of September 7, 2017 or earlier. The packaging for the “AMERICAN RYE” loaves bear the UPC code 7-33147-20150-3; those for the “CARAWAY RYE” bread bear the UPC code 7-33147-20155-8.
People who are allergic to milk, soy, and / or eggs run the risk of becoming seriously ill if they eat these rye bread products. Loaves that have been purchased and stored in the refrigerator or freezer should be thrown away or returned to the store for a refund.
