Consumers Claim Allergic Reactions: CLIF Bars Recalled

Clif Bar and Company is voluntarily recalling some of their bars because consumers have complained about allergic reactions. The recall notice states, “Clif Bar discovered this issue when it received a small number of consumer complaints alleging peanut or tree nut allergic reactions. There are no confirmed illnesses associated with this recall.”

The recall is for CLIF® BUILDER’S® Bar Chocolate Mint flavor, CLIF Kid Zbar® Protein Chocolate Mint, and CLIF Kid Zbar® Protein Chocolate Chip flavors. The bars may contain peanuts, almonds, Brazil nuts, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, walnuts, and coconut. The products are sold in retail stores and online throughout the country. The recall is for all pack sizes and individual bars with certain lot codes.

For CLIF® BUILDER’S® 18-count Variety Pack Chocolate Peanut Butter and Chocolate Mint, the lot code is from 24MAR16M to 08FEB18M. For CLIF Kid Zbar® Protein 30-count Variety Pack, the lot code is 31MAY16M to 15OCT17M. For CLIF® BUILDER’S® Chocolate Mint in 12 count, 6 pack, and 7 pack, the lot code is from 05APR16M3 to 23APR18M3. For CLIF® BUILDER’S® Snack Size Chocolate Mint 200-count, the lot code is from 05APR16M3 to 23APR18M3. For CLIF Kid ZBar® Protein Chocolate Chip in 10 pack, 150 count, and 5 pack, the lot code is from 05APR16M3 to 23APR18M3. Finally, for CLIF Kid Zbar® Protein Chocolate Mint in 10 pack, 150 count, and 5 pack, the lot code is from 05APR16M3 to 23APR18M3.

If you bought these products and are allergic to any type of nut, do not eat them. Throw them away or take them back to the place of purchase for a refund.
