Kroger Expands Recall of Simple Truth Macadamia for Listeria

Kroger is expanding its recall of 12 ounce packages of Simple truth Dry Roasted Macadamia Nuts for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recalled product is Simple Truth Dry Roasted Macadamia Nuts in 12 ounce packages. The UPC number is 11110-02478, and the sell by dates are Dec. 09 2017, Mar. 02 2018, Mar. 03 2018, and Apr. 07 2018. The recall includes all stores nationwide under these names: Kroger, Ralphs, Food 4s, Foods Co., Fred Meyer, Fry’s, King Soopers, City Market, Smith’s, Dillons, Baker’s, Gerbes, Jay C, Ruler Foods, Pay Less, Pick ‘N Save, Copps, Metro Market, Owen’s and QFC. This product was distributed between 12/9/2016 and 6/13/2017.

Kroger Simple Truth Macadamia Listeria Monocytogenes RecallIf you purchased this product, do not eat it. Throw it away in a double bagged container or a secure garbage can, or take it back to the store for refund or replacement. Then clean out your pantry or freezer or wherever you stored this product with a mild bleach solution to kill any remaining bacteria.

If you ate these nuts, watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis, the illness caused by this bacteria, for the next 70 days. Symptoms include severe headache, neck stiffness, high fever, nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Listeria infections can cause miscarriages and stillbirth in pregnant women even if they only have a mild flu-like illness. If you do feel sick, see your doctor.
