Loving Pets Dog Treats Recalled for Possible Salmonella

Loving Pets of Cranbury, New Jersey is recalling some of their dog treats because they may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. Salmonella can sicken pets and humans, especially if the people don’t wash their hands after touching the products or their pets. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recalled products are Loving Pets Barksters™, Item #5700 Sweet Potato and Chicken with UPC number 842982057005 and Lot number 021619, and Item #5705 Brown Rice and Chicken with UPC number 842982057050 and Lot number 021419. Loving Pets Puffsters™ Snack Chips are also recalled, with Item #5100 Apple and Chicken with UPC number 842982051003 and Lot numbers 051219, 112118, 112918, 012719, 012519, 013019; Item #5110 Banana and Chicken with UPC number 842982051102 and Lot numbers 112218, 112818, 112918, 013119; Item #5120 Sweet Potato and Chicken with UPC 842982051201 and Lot numbers 112818, 020119; and Item #5130 Cranberry and Chicken with UPC number 842982051300 and Lot numbers 020319, 112918, and 020219. Finally, Whole Hearted™ is recalled, including Item #2570314 Chicken and Apple Puff Treats with UPC number 800443220696 and Lot numbers 121418, 121918, 122318, 010419, 010619, 010519.

If you purchased these products, do not give them to your pet. Throw them away in a sealed or double bagged package or take them back to the store for a refund.

If your pet ate these products and has been experiencing lethargy, diarrhea, fever, and vomiting, take him to your veterinarian. Human symptoms of Salmonella food poisoning include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea that may be bloody, abdominal cramps, and fever.
