Save-A-Lot Pick 5 Chicken & Waffle Sandwich Recalled for Listeria

Fourth Street Barbecue has voluntarily recalled all lot numbers of the Save-A-Lot Pick 5 Chicken Waffle Sandwich because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. The product was sold frozen and distributed nationwide to Save-A-Lot stores.

All date codes of this product are included in the recall. It is Save-A-Lot Pick 5 Mix & Match Chicken & Waffle Sandwich in a 14.4 ounce box. The UPC number on the product isĀ 051933353664

The recall was issued because the waffles used by this product were recalled by Pinnacle Foods, since Listeria bacteria was found in the plant where the waffles were made. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this issue.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Throw it away in a sealed or double bagged container, or take it back to the place of purchase for a refund.

Then clean out your refrigerator or freezer with a mild bleach solution, since Listeria monocytogenes bacteria can grow at refrigerator temperatures and freezing doesn’t kill it. Wash your hands well with soap and water after handling this product.

If you ate this recalled product, watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. Those symptoms include high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Pregnant women need to be especially cautious of this illness, since listeriosis can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, infection in the newborn, and premature labor. If you do feel sick, see your doctor.
