Taylor Farms Florida is recalling about 732 pounds of salads made with chicken for misbranding and undeclared allergens. The products contain anchovies, or fish, one of the major food allergens, that is not declared on the label. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions received to date.
The recalled products include 9.75-ounce plastic bowls containing “Taylor Farms American Style Pasta Salad” with a “USE BY 11/01/17” and case code of TFFLD 295 L5 EA, and 9.75-ounce plastic bowls containing “Taylor Farms American Style Pasta Salad” with a “USE BY 11/02/17” and case code of TFFLD 296 L5 JP. The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 44818” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in Florida. The salads were produced and packaged on October 22 and October 23, 2017.
The problem was discovered on October 26, 2017, when Taylor Farms Florida received a consumer complaint about the taste of the salad dressing packaged in the product. The firm found that the products incorrectly contained Caesar salad dressing instead of the Bacon Ranch salad dressing that was supposed to be packaged with the salad. The Caesar salad dressing contains anchovies.
If you bought this item and are allergic to anchovies, or fish, don’t eat it. Throw it away or take it back to the store where you bought it for a full refund.
The symptoms of an allergic reaction can range from mild to severe. Mild symptoms include tingling of the lips, mouth, tongue, and throat, hives, a skin rash, and a cough. More severe symptoms can range from difficulty breathing to anaphylactic shock.
