The Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s random sampling found a single positive result for Listeria monocytogenes in a Mann Packing Power Blend bagged salad product. If you bought any of these products, do not eat them, even if you are going to cook them. Throw them away in a sealed or double wrapped package so other people can’t eat them, or take them back to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Then clean out your refrigerator with a mild bleach solution to kill bacteria. Wash your hands well with soap and water after handling these products.
If you ate any of these products, watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. Those symptoms include high fever, stiff neck, severe headache, nausea, and diarrhea. Pregnant women may only be mildly ill, but this illness can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, and premature labor.
