Envolve Foods of California is recalling about 292,764 pounds of ready-to-eat Cadence Gourmet and simple truth chicken and beef products because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella bacteria. This a secondary recall after McCain Foods recalled all of their vegetable products produced at their California facility for contamination. No illnesses have been reported.
These recalled items were made from February 2, 2017 through October 12, 2018. They include 22-ounce plastic bags containing “simple truth, Chicken Bibimbap” and a case code number of 011110890108 on the label, with use by/sell by dates of 11/2/18 through 3/12/20; 22-ounce plastic bags containing “simple truth, Thai Style Green Curry” and a case code number of 011110816382 on the label. The use by/sell by dates on that product are 3/13/19 through 1/24/20. Also recalled are 22-ounce plastic bags containing “simple truth, Chicken Tikka Masala” and a case code of 011110890092 on the label, with use by/sell by dates of 3/22/19 through 4/12/19; 10-pound cases containing “CADENCE GOURMET, Steak Fajitas,” with item number of SS00024, and an expiration dates of 11/1/2018 through 01/18/19, printed on the label; 10-pound cases containing “CADENCE GOURMET, Tuscan Tomato Basil Chicken & Sausage,” with an item number of SS00032 and an expiration dates of 10/20/18 through 01/09/19 printed on the label; and 10-pound cases containing “CADENCE GOURMET, Rustic Toasted Tomato Basil Chicken & Vegetables,” with an item number of SS00047 and expiration dates of 2/05/19 through 10/12/19 marked on the label. These products all have the establishment number “EST. 44857” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped nationwide.
If you bought any of these items, don’t eat them. Check your freezer to see if you have any. If you do, throw them away after first wrapping them in foil or plastic wrap. You can also take them back to the place of purchase for a full refund.
If you ate any of these products, watch yourself for the symptoms of food poisoning. Salmonella infections cause nausea, fever, vomiting, and diarrhea. Listeria monocytogenes infections cause high fever, stiff neck, muscle aches, and a severe headache. If you have been sick, call your doctor.
