Conagra Recalls Salisbury Steak Products for Possible Bone Fragments

Conagra is recalling Banquet Salisbury Steaks for possible foreign material contamination; specifically bone fragments. The 135,159 pounds of the product is made from poultry, pork, and beef. This poses a choking and injury hazard. There have been three reports of minor oral injuries associated with the consumption of this product.

The family style, heat treated, not shelf stable Salisbury steak and brown gravy products were produced on March 10, 2018. Specifically, if is 27 ounce cartons containing plastic shrink-wrapped packages containing six pieces of “Banquet FAMILY SIZE 6 SALISBURY STEAKS & BROWN GRAVY MADE WITH CHICKEN, PORK AND BEEF – GRILL MARKS ADDED.” The lot code is 5006 8069 10 05 and a ‘BEST BY’ date of SEP 01 2019 is printed on the package. This product has the establishment number “P-115” in the USDA mark of inspection on the side panel of the package. The product was shipped to retail locations across the country.

The firm did receive complaints about the issue, which uncovered the problem. Anyone who has been injured should contact a healthcare provider for help.

FSIS is concerned that this product may be frozen in consumers’ freezers. If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Discard it in a sealed package, or return it to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

Retail distribution lists for these recalled products are sometimes posted by the USDA. Check the FSIS web site to see if it is posted. The USDA is making sure that the product is recalled from the market and that all customers have been informed about this issue.
