Sofina Foods is recalling Janes pub style chicken burgers in Canada for possible Salmonella contamination. The Public Health Agency of Canada is investigating an outbreak of Salmonella human illness that is linked to frozen, raw breaded chicken products. This recall was triggered by those findings. The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation, and more products may be recalled. This product was distributed nationally at the retail level.
The recalled product is Janes Pub Style Chicken Burgers – Uncooked Breaded Chicken Burgers, in 800 gram packages. The codes on the product are: Outer package 2019 MA 14, and the Inner package 1348M. The UPC number on that product isĀ 0 69299 12491 0.
If you bought this product, don’t eat it, even if you are going to cook it thoroughly. Cooking methods may not make this food 100% safe. And some bacteria can produce toxins while they grow that can survive heating. Throw the product away in a sealed package, or take it back to the place of purchase for a refund.
Foods that are contaminated with Salmonella bacteria will not look, taste, or smell bad, and the texture will not be changed. You can’t tell if a food is unsafe to eat by looking at it. Check your freezer to see if this product is there.
