NOW Health Group of Bloomingdale, Illinois is recalling its Real Food Zesty Sprouting Mix because its primary ingredient, Crimson Clover Seeds, may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. About 10,000 units of this Mix were distributed online and in retail stores nationwide since December 2017.
This product was recalled in Canada on June 15, 2018. The Canadian recall said that this recall was triggered by a recall in another country.
The recalled products are NOW Real Food Zesty Sprouting Mix in 16 ounce packages. The UPC number on the product is 733739072719. There are two lot numbers on the products and two best by dates. The lot number for the product with the best by date of 12/20 is 3031259; and the lot number for the product with the best by date of 01/21 is 3038165. You can find the lot numbers on the back of the package.
No illnesses have been reported to date in the United States or Canada in relation to this problem. But the FDA recall notice states “Evidence of potential contamination was implicated in ongoing FDA and CDC investigations into multistate outbreaks of Salmonella infections, of which the clover seed supplier was notified.”
If you purchased this product, do not use it and do not eat it. Throw the sprouting mix away in a sealed or double packaged container so other people can’t access it or take it back to the store where you bought it for a full refund.
Wash your hands well with soap and water after handling this product. It’s also a good idea to clean out your refrigerator, or wherever you stored this product, to kill any bacteria.
