Queseria La Milagrosa Cheese Recalled For Possible Salmonella

Alebrije Dist Wholesale is recalling some of their cheeses for possible Salmonella contamination. The pathogenic bacteria was found in a sample of Quesillo “Queseria La Milagrosa. “Alebrije Cheese” has not tested positive for Salmonella, but the company is recalling specific 498 out of an abundance of caution. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this recall.

The cheeses were distributed October 23 and 24, 2018 through retail sales and delivery in Los Angeles, California. The recalled items are Quesillo “Queseria La Milagrosa” that is wrapped in a basic plastic bag with a yellow label. It is sold in 1/2 kilogram and 1 kilogram packages. Also recalled is “Alebrije Cheese,” which is wrapped in a plastic bag with and orange and blue label. The cheese is sold in 1/2 kilogram, 1 kilogram, and 5 kilogram sizes. About 100 kilograms of Queseria La Milagrosa are recalled, and 498 pieces of “Alebrije Cheese” are recalled.

If y0ou purchased either of those products, don’t eat them, even if you plan to cook with them. Throw them away in a sealed or double bagged package and put them into a garbage can with a secure lid, or take them back to the store where you bought them for a refund.

The symptoms of a Salmonella infection include fever, nausea, vomiting, stomach and abdominal pain, and diarrhea that may be bloody. Symptoms usually begin 12 to 72 hours after ingesting the pathogen. Most people recover on their own within a few days, but some may become seriously ill and require medical attention and even hospitalization. If you do feel sick, see your doctor.
