Two more brands of dog food are recalling some of their products; one for possible Salmonella contamination; the other for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. No human or pet illnesses have been reported to date in either situation.
The first recall is for “Treat Me Crunchy Beef Delight” products by TruPet of Milford, Ohio, for possible Salmonella. The product is sold in 2.5 ounce containers. It was sold throughout the country via the online retailer Chewy.com and at TruDog.com through direct delivery. It has lot numberĀ 20190514 13753. The Michigan Department of Agriculture collected a retail sample that tested positive for the pathogenic bacteria.
Pets with Salmonella may be lethargic and have diarrhea that may be bloody, fever, and vomiting. Infected pets may appear healthy, but can transmit the illness to other pets and people.
The second recall is for frozen 5 pound chubs of Chicken and Salmon pet food, from Northwest Naturals of Portland, Oregon. The recalled product is 1 isolated batch of 94 cases that was distributed to specialty pet retail stores in California, Washington, Texas, Michigan, Georgia, and Rhode Island.
The recalled product is labeled Chicken and Salmon Dog Food with UPC numberĀ 0 87316 38440 6 and a product best buy date code of 15 082218. The product passed lab testing on 12/22/16 and was sold over one year ago to distributors, on or before 1/23/17. There is no more product available at any distributors. The Michigan Department of Agriculture and the FDA notified the company when one chub purchased at a Michigan specialty pet store tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.
If you purchased either of these products, do not feed them to your pets. Throw them away in a sealed container, or take them back to the place of purchase for a refund. If your pet is exhibiting any signs of illness, take them to a veterinarian as soon as possible.
