Maurice’s and Gourmet Carolina Honey Sauces Recalled for Undeclared Allergens

Two products have been recalled by the FDA for undeclared wheat and soy. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with either recalled product.

The first recalled product is Maurice’s Southern Gold Honey Sauce, produced by Piggie Park Enterprises. The company is recalling all product made in the past two years, March 11, 2016 through March 11, 2018.

The sauce is distributed nationwide through the company’s Flying Pig Shipping Service; in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina through their retail partners; and also at their retail stores in South Carolina. The recalled product is packaged in an 18 ounce, clear plastic bottle. The expiration date, located on the bottom of the bottle,  is before 3/12/18. If the bottle does not have an expiration date, it is included in the recall. The UPC number on the product is 0 75616 54332 6.

The powdered honey in the sauce contains wheat and soy, which wasn’t declared on ingredient labels. Anyone allergic to those ingredients, or anyone with celiac disease, or eats it could have a serious reaction.

The second recalled product is Gourmet Carolina Gold Honey Sauce, also produced by Piggie Park Enterprises. The company is recalling all product manufactured in the last two years. It was distributed nationwide through their Flying Pig Service, and in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina through the company’s retail partners.

The product also comes in an 18 ounce clear plastic bottle with an expiration date before 3/12/18. If there is no expiration date on the bottle, it is included in this recall. These bottles have a UPC number of 0 75616 54383 8.

If you purchased these products and cannot eat wheat or soy, don’t eat them. Throw them away or take them back to the store where you bought them for a refund.
