Wegmans Recalls Cauliflower Rice Products for E. coli O157:H7

Wegmans Food Markets is voluntarily recalling fresh Cauliflower Rice, Veggie Cauliflower Rice Blend, and Stir-Fry Mix with Cauliflower because it may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7 bacteria. The recall was initiated by Produce Packaging that supplies the products. They notified Wegmans that the product may be contaminated.

Wegmans Cauliflower Rice E. coli O157:H7 Recall

The recalled products all have use-by dates of 12/11/18 through 12/22/18. The recalled products are Wegmans Cauliflower Rice in 1 pound packages, with UPC number 25313500000; Wegmans Cauliflower Rice in 8 ounce packages with UPC number 25307200000, Wegmans Stir Fry Blend (with cauliflower) in 1 pound packages with UPC number 25335800000; and Wegmans Veggie (cauliflower) Rice Blend that is sold by the pound. The UPC number on that product is 253162000000.

The products were sold in 98 Wegmans stores in New York, New Jersey Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and Massachusetts. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

Wegmans has placed automated phone calls to all customers who bought this product using their Shoppers Club card. If you bought any of these products, don’t eat them, even if you plan to cook them. Throw them away after wrapping them thoroughly in plastic wrap or foil, or take them back to the store where you bought them for a refund.

It’s a good idea to then clean out your refrigerator, or wherever you stored these products, with a mild bleach solution to kill any bacteria. Wipe down any containers that may have come into contact with these products. Wash your hands well with soap and water after handling these products and after cleaning.
