Art Cream of Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania, is recalling 40 units of Gluten Free Cookies N Cream because it may contain undeclared pecans, or tree nuts, one of the major food allergens. Anyone who is allergic to pecans may have a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they eat this product. No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported to the company to date.
The recalled product is 40 single pints of Art Cream Gluten Free Cookies N Cream. The container is labeled with “Gluten Free Cookies N Cream” and it has a Honey Bourbon Pecan Lid, which is a different kind of ice cream. The code date on the product is 8/12/19. This product was only made in pint size (2 cups). The ice cream was sold in Balducci’s in McLean, Virginia; Kings in Morriston, New Jersey, and Kings in Short Hills, New Jersey.
The recall was initiated after a consumer found that the outside container and lid did not match, so the ingredient statement was for the wrong product.
If you purchased this product with this specific lid and code date, and are allergic to pecans, don’t eat it. Throw it away or take it back to the store where you bought it for a full refund.
