BrucePac Italian Style Chicken Sausage Recalled For Misbranding

BrucePac of Silverton, Oregon is recalling about 55,550 pounds of ready to eat chicken sausages for misbranding. The products contain a pork casing that is not declared on the label. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products.

The frozen ready-to-eat chicken sausages were produced on various dates ranging from November 15, 2018 to June 24, 2019. The recalled item is 30 pound bulk pack cases containing “Grilled Sliced Italian style Chicken Sausage” that has lot codes 11158S, 12058S, 03189S, 06249S, and 05029S on the case. The cases have the establishment number “P-9267A” printed inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped to institutional locations in California.

The problem was discovered when a third-party consultant identified the mislabeling. The firm then notified FSIS about this issue and issued the recall.

FSIS is concerned that some of this product may be frozen in institutional freezers. If your company purchased this product, do not serve it. Throw the sausages away or return them to the place of purchase.

FSIS is conducting retail effectiveness checks to make sure that the company is notifying customers about this recall, and to also make sure that the product is no longer available to consumers who cannot eat pork for whatever reason.
