Panola Country Processing of Carthage, Texas, is recalling about 59 pounds of smoked sausages because they were under processed. No illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported in connection with this issue.
The recalled sausages are smoked sausage links and venison and pork sausage links. They were produced on January 29, 2019. They include:
- 1.3-pound vacuum-packed packages containing four pieces of “PANOLA COUNTY PROCESSING, LLC Pork Smoked Sausage PC” with packaging dates of January 30, 2019 and January 31, 2019.
- 1.3-pound vacuum-packed packages containing four pieces of “PANOLA COUNTY PROCESSING, LLC Pork Hot Smoked Sausage PC” with a packaging date of January 31, 2019.
- 1.3-pound vacuum-packed packages containing four pieces of “PANOLA COUNTY PROCESSING, LLC Venison & Pork Smoked Sausage PC” with a packaging date of January 31, 2019.
- 1.3-pound vacuum-packed packages containing four pieces of “PANOLA COUNTY PROCESSING, LLC Venison & Pork Hot Smoked Sausage PC” with a packaging date of January 31, 2019.
These products were sold at one location at the retail level in Texas. They have the establishment number “EST. 48219” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The problem was discovered by FSIS personnel during verifications activities at the establishment.
FSIS thinks that some of these products may be frozen in consumers’ home freezers. Check your freezer. If you purchased any of these products, don’t eat them, even if you plan to cook them first. Take them back to the store where you bought them, or throw them away in a secure garbage can.
FSIS will be conducting retail effectiveness checks to make sure that the company is notifying its customers about this recall. The retail distribution list will be published when available at the FSIS web site.
