Randsland Super Salad Kits and Kale Recalled For Listeria

Randsland Farms is recalling their Super Salad Kit and Kale in some provinces of Canada for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. These products were sold at the consumer level in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Nova Scotia. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this recall.

The recalled products are Randsland Super Salat Kit in 454 gram packages. The UPC number on the product is 0 57225 00005 6 and the product codes are 2919071 100119. Also recalled are Randsland Kale in 340 gram packages, with UPC number 0 57225 00006 3 and product codes 2919071 100119. You can see pictures of product photos at the CFIA web site.

If you purchased these products, don’t eat them. There is zero tolerance for Listeria monocytogenes contamination in ready-to-eat foods. Throw the products away in a secure garbage can, or return them to the store where you purchased them for a full refund.

Then clean out your refrigerator with a mild bleach solution of 1 tablespoon liquid chlorine bleach to one gallon of warm water. Wipe down all objects in the fridge, rinse them, then dry. Do the same to the walls, drawers, and shelves in the fridge. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after cleaning the fridge and after handling these products.

If you ate either of these products, monitor your health for symptoms of listeriosis, the illness that is caused by this pathogen. Symptoms of listeriosis include high fever, stiff neck, severe headache, nausea, and diarrhea. Pregnant women may be ill with what they believe is a mild case of the flu, but this illness can be serious in that population, causing stillbirth, miscarriage, premature labor, and infection in the newborn. If you ate these products and have been sick, see your doctor.
