C&S Wholesale Grocers of Westfield, Massachusetts is recalling an undetermined amount of ready-to-eat and not-ready-to-eat meat and poultry products due to temperature abuse during transport. This can allow the growth of spoilage organisms and pathogens such as E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes, and Staphylococcus aureus. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products.
These products were sold on June 17, 2019, at two Target stores in New York. Those stores are at 98 Veterans Memorial Highway in Commack, New York; and 160 North Research Place in Central Islip, New York. You can see the full list of recalled products at the FDA web site. The labels for those products will be posted when available.
Some of the recalled products sold at the Commack, New York location include various sizes and UPC numbers of Archer Farms Shredded Rotisserie Chicken, Oscar Mayer Lunchables Turkey & American Cheese with Cracker Meal Combinations, and Hillshire Farms Italian Dry Salami, among others. Some of the products sold at the North Research Place location include various sizes and UPC numbers of Hillshire Farms Ultra Thin Honey Roasted Turkey Breast, Oscar Mayer Fully Cooked Bacon, Oscar Mayer Ham & American Funpack Lunchable, Market Pantry Hard Salami, Nathan’s Famous Skinless Beef Franks, and Hormel Natural Choice Hard Salami, among others.
The firm discovered that the products were held at an incorrect temperature and then inadvertently shipped into commerce. All remaining inventory of the recalled items that were for sale have been removed from the store and destroyed.
If you have purchased any of these items, do not eat them. Throw them away after first wrapping them in foil or plastic wrap so other people and animals can’t get at them. You can also return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
FSIS is conducting retail effectiveness checks to make sure that the firm is notifying their customers about this recall and that the product is not available on store shelves.
Just opened Hillshire farms deli roasted turkey meat. Exspiration date was 7/19/ 2019. It was disgusting, my fingers could go right through it…I promptly threw it away today. I bought it a BJ in Greenfield Ma. Be aware!!! So sad…it makes me not want to purchase it again. And have used the product for years.
