Kenosha Beef International of Columbus, Ohio is recalling an undetermined amount of Taco Bell Seasoned Beef products because they may be contaminated with foreign materials, more specifically metal shavings. This poses a choking and injury hazard. No confirmed reports of illnesses, adverse reactions, or injury have been received to date in connection with this recall.
This seasoned beef item was produced on dates ranging from September 20, 2019 to October 4, 2019. The recalled item is cases containing eight 5-pound plastic bags of Taco Bell Seasoned Beef Taco and Burrito Filling with use by dates of L2 11/4/19” to “L2 11/18/19”. This product has the establishment number “EST. 10130” on the case. The beef was shipped to five distribution centers, and from there to Taco Bell restaurant locations nationwide.
The problem was discovered when the firm notified FSIS on October 12, 2019 that it had received three consumer complaints about the metal shavings. Anyone concerned about an injury should contact a doctor.
FSIS is concerned that some product may be in restaurant refrigerators. Restaurants who purchased this product are urged not to serve it. The products should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
FSIS is conducting retail effectiveness checks to make sure that the firm is recalling the product and that they are notifying their customers about this recall. When available, the retail distribution list will be published and posted on the FSIS web site.
