Western Family Sockeye Smoked Salmon Nuggets Recalled For Listeria

Western Family Sockeye Smoked Salmon Nuggets are being recalled in Canada for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this issue. These products were sold in Alberta, British Columbia, and may have been sold nationally.

The recalled product is Western Family Original Wild Sockeye Smoked Salmon Nuggets sold in 150 gram packages. The UPC number on the product is 0 62639 35065 9, and the codes on the product are 11720516 and 11720517.

This recall was triggered by the company. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is conducting a food safety investigation which may trigger the recall of other prods. The CFIA will notify the public through updated food recall warnings if that happens.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it, even if you plan to cook with it. Throw it away in a sealed container in a secure garbage can with a tight fitting lid. You can also return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.

You should then clean out your refrigerator or freezer or wherever you stored this product with a mild bleach solution to kill any bacteria. Listeria monocytogenes bacteria can grow at refrigerator temps and freezing doesn’t kill it. Wash your hands well with soap and water after you have finished cleaning and after touching this product.
