Accompany USA Ceramic Mugs With Cork Bottoms are being recalled because the mugs can crack when hot liquid is poured into them, which poses a burn hazard. This product is a coffee cup with a detachable lid that has a cork bottom that is about 1/2-inch thick. About 25,000 of these ceramic mugs were sold in the United States. The recalling firm is the importer, Accompany USA of City of Industry in California.
The company has received one report of the mug breaking after hot liquid was poured into it. No injuries have been reported to the company to date in connection with this issue.
The recall is for Accompany USA Ceramic Mugs with Cork Bottoms that were sold as and/or given out for free as promotional products with company or other logos. The mugs are white with cork bottoms, although on the CPSC web page, there is also a picture of a black mug with a cork bottom. The white mugs measure about four inches high and four inches wide, although the black mugs seem taller. The mugs were manufactured in China.
