International House of Caviar is recalling AKI Chum Salmon Caviar in Canada because it may contain botulinum toxin. The product may permit the growth of C. botulinum bacteria that produce that toxin. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this issue. The recalled product is AKI Chum Salmon Caviar in 50 gram containers. The UPC number is 6 28451 22603 1 and the code on the product is L N16319.14 and best before 2017/11/17. It was sold in Alberta and British Columbia at the retail level. If you bought this product, do not eat it. Throw it away in a sealed or double bagged package, or take it back to the retailer where you bought it and ask for a full refund. Yummy Smoked Lake Trout Recalled After Botulism Illness in Canada

Yummy Market is recalling Yummy Market brand Smoked Lake Trout w/Pepper with Cracked Black Pepper for possible Clostridium botulinum contamination. It was sold from the Yummy Market store at 1390 Major Mackenize Drive West in Maple, Ontario. The recall was triggered by a consumer complaint. There has been one illness reported that may be associated with the consumption of this product. If you purchased it, do not eat it. Death Wish Coffee is recalling its 11 ounce Data Wish Nitro Brew cans because they may be contaminated with botulism toxin. The process of making the product could lead to the growth and production of the deadly toxin. Clostridium botulinum toxin is ubiquitous throughout the environment. In low acid canned foods, this bacteria can grow and produce the toxin. The symptoms of botulism poisoning include general weakness, dizziness, double vision, trouble speaking, and difficulty swallowing. Health Alert Issued for Possible Botulism in Par’s Pueblo Green Chili Sauce

The Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment has posted a "health alert" for Par's Pueblo Green Chili Sauce for possible Clostridium botulinum contamination. No adverse reactions or illnesses have been received to date, according to the notice. The product in question is Par's Natural Foods Pueblo Green Chili Sauce in 16 and 32 ounce glass containers. The notice on the Colorado government's web page is very brief and doesn't mention where the product may have been sold. There is no mention of this alert on the company's web site. Willis Ocean Recalls “the duck” Scomber Fish for Botulism Risk

Willis Ocean of New York is recalling its "the duck" brand "frozen steamed scomber fish" because it was uneviscerated. Uncleaned fish are not allowed for sale under New York State Agriculture and Markets regulations because those products are more likely to be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum spores. No reports of illness have been received to date. The recalled product was distributed nationwide at the retail level. Deer Antler Herbal Tea Recalled for Possible Botulism

U.S. Deer Antler is recalling herbal tea varieties for the risk of Clostridium botulinum. The teas were prepared on the premises of U.S. Deer Antler Ex. & Imp. of Los Angeles, California between 4/1/17 and 4/30/17. The herbal teas, especially the low acid ones held at room temperature, were not produced according to approved guidelines, making them susceptible to contamination. The recalled product is Herbal Tea Variety Batches prepared on premise between 4/1/17 and 4/30/17 and packaged in 120 ml pouches. There are 40 pouches in a case. TPF Satay Recalled for Possible Botulism

TP Food Processing of California is recalling two types of Satay for possible Clostridium botulinum contamination. The sauces were distributed at supermarkets in California. A tiny amount of the toxin produced by this bacterium can cause serious illness and death. The acidified sauces were not properly produced, making them susceptible to contamination. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem. The recalled products are TPF Lemongrass Satay in 9 ounce packages. Minnesota Issues Advisory for Uneviscerated Fish at Shwe Karen

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture has issued a consumer advisory for uneviscerated fish sold from Shwe Karen Market in St. Paul because it may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum bacteria. This bacteria produces a toxin that can cause death. The viscera in fish is more likely to contain this pathogenic bacteria. The product of concern is dried fish more than five inches in length and still containing the viscera (internal organs) of the fish. The product was packaged in 1 kilogram clear plastic bags labeled “Dried Fish” and sold from Shwe Karen Market between February 5 and March 2, 2017. FDA Warns Consumers about Canadian Baby Food Recall

The FDA is warning consumers not to use PC Organics brand baby food that was manufactured specifically for the Canadian marketplace. Some U.S. consumers may have purchased these products in Canada. The baby food has been recalled for possible Clostridium botulinum contamination. Loblaw Companies is recalling PC Organics baby food pouches. A manufacturing error resulted in excess water in the product, which could support the growth of Clostridium botulinum. That bacteria produces a toxin that is deadly in tiny amounts. The recall was triggered by a consumer complaint. The recall issued on February 3, 2017 for PC Organics baby food in Canada has been expanded to include more products. Loblaw Companies is recalling the product because the may permit the growth of Clostridium botulinum bacteria. A manufacturing error resulted in too much water in the product, which could support the growth of this pathogenic bacteria. A tiny amount of botulism toxin can cause illness and death. There have been illnesses reported that may be associated with the consumption of these products. The products were sold up to and including February 8, 2017 nationwide in Canada.
