Minnesota Issues Advisory for Uneviscerated Fish at Shwe Karen
The Minnesota Department of Agriculture has issued a consumer advisory for uneviscerated fish sold from Shwe Karen Market in St. Paul because it may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum bacteria. This bacteria produces a toxin that can cause death. The viscera in fish is more likely to contain this pathogenic bacteria. The product of concern is dried fish more than five inches in length and still containing the viscera (internal organs) of the fish.
