One Heart Swiss Chard Pesto Recalled for Botulism

One Heart Organics is recalling One Heart brand Swiss Chard Pesto in Canada for possible Clostridium botulinum contamination. Botulism toxin can cause serious illness and death. No reports of illness have been received to date in connection with the consumption of this product. One Heart brand Swiss Chard Pesto was sold in two sizes.  The 8 ounce packages is recalled. The other was sold in 16 ounce packages. All units sold up to and including December 15, 2016 are recalled. There is no UPC number on these products. They were sold in Ontario at the retail level. Smoked Salmon in Canada Recalled for Possible Botulism

Loblaw Companies in Canada is recalling President's Choice brand Smoked Atlantic Salmon sold at one location in Mississauga because it may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum bacteria. This bacteria produces a dangerous toxin that can be fatal. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this issue. The recalled products were sold from Valu-mart - Applewood at 1125 Bloor Street East in Mississauga, Ontario. They are President's Choice brand. Smoked Atlantic Salmon in 112 gram packages is recalled, with UPC number 0 60383 18100 0 and with codes of best before date 16DE29 AND 6983, 7003, OR 7025. Phil-Am Trading Recalls Smoked Mackerel for Botulism Risk

One day after the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets issued a consumer warning about Phil Am Smoked Mackerel, the company has voluntarily recalled the product. The product is uneviscerated. The viscera in fish can contain Clostridium botulinum spores that can cause serious illness and death. No illnesses have been reported to date. The recalled product is Phil-am Smoked Mackerel (Hasa-Hasa) in a 200 gram (7.05 ounce) pack. It is packaged in a clear flexible plastic pouch and has a predominantly red tag on the top seal with the product information. The UPC code is 814487015147. Phil Am Smoked Mackerel Recalled for Botulism Risk

The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is warning consumers not to eat "Phil Am" brand Smoked Mackerel (Hasa Hasa) because it was uneviscerated. The viscera in fish can harbor Clostridium both;inure spores. The product is sold by Asian Supermarket Group Inc. at 1245 Central Avenue in Albany, New York. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of this product. The "Phil Am" brand Smoked Mackerel is packaged in a clear, vacuum package flexible plastic pouch and offered for sale in refrigerated cases. The product is uncoded and is from the Philippines. Recall of Hinty’s Soups in Canada for Botulism Expanded

The recall of Hinty's Bean Soup and Pumpkin Chili on November 9, 2016 in Canada has been expanded to include another product. Those soups are being recalled for possible Clostridium botulinum contamination. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of these products. The original recall was for Black Bean and Yam Chili. The newly recalled products have no brand name and no UPC Number. All units sold up to and including November 11, 2016 are recalled. They are Bean Soup in about 500 ml jars, Bean Soup in about 1 liter jars, Spicy Pumpkin Chili in 500 ml jars, and Spicy Pumpkin Chili in about 1 liter jars. Hinty's Chili in Ontario, Canada is recalling their Black Bean and Yam Chili because it may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum bacteria. A tiny amount of the botulinum toxin can cause illness and death. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products. The recalled products are Black Bean and Yam Chili in two sizes. The first, approximately 500 ml jars, has no UPC number and the recall includes all units sold up to and including November 2, 2016. FDA Investigates Island Soup Company

The FDA is advising consumers to throw away any soup products from the New York firm Island Soups Company with best before dates between July 2015 and June 2018 because they may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum bacteria. That bacteria produces a toxin that can be deadly even in very small amounts. The company issued a recall for six soup varieties of their products on September 7, 2016. But in the notice from the FDA, they state that "FDA's safety concerns extend to all low-acid canned food products with best before dates between July 2015 and June 2018." 6 Island Soups Brand Varieties Recalled for Possible Clostridum Botulinum Contamination

The FDA has just announced that Island Soups Company, Inc., headquartered in Saint Albans, NY, has issued a recall of six varieties of canned soup. This recall stems from the possibility that these products may have been contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium that causes botulism – a potentially deadly type of food poisoning.
