Rochester Meat Recalls Sausage for MSG

Rochester Meat Company of Rochester, Minnesota is recalling 13,330 pounds of pork sausage for misbranding. The sausage contains monosodium glutamate (MSG) that is not declared on the label. No adverse reactions complaints have been received to date. The recalled products were produced on various dates from November 14, 2016 through February 3, 2017. They include 10 pound bulk boxes containing 40 patties per box of Rochester Meat Company "Pork Sausage Patties," with case code 10012724390418; 10 pound bulk boxes containing 50 patties per box of Rochester Meat Company "Pork Sausage Patties," with case code 10012724390517; and 10 pound bulk boxes containing 80 patties per box of Rochester Meat Company "Pork Sausage Patties," with case code 1002724390029. Century Packing is recalling about 999,419 pounds of thermally processed, commercially sterile, chicken sausage products because they contain MSG not declared on the labels. These products were produced from January 1, 2015 through February 13, 2017. No confirmed reports of illness have been received. Some of these products were produced under WalMart's Great Value brand. No confirmed reports of adverse reactions have been received to date. The products were produced on various dates from October 12, 2016 through January 23, 2017. Wycen Foods of California is recalling about 809 pounds of Chinese style chicken sausages, a dried snack food, because they contain monosodium glutamate (MSG) that is not declared on the label. There have been no reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of this product. For some people, MSG can cause headache, flushing, sweating, numbness, tingling, and burning, rapid, fluttering heartbeats, chest pain, nausea, and weakness. The chicken sausages were produced June 12, August 14, September 4, and October 24, 2013 and sold at a single San Francisco retail location. The products have a shelf life of one year. Bob Evans Recalls Almost 2 Million Pounds Of Sausage

Almost 2 million pounds of Bob Evans sausage products are being recalled because labeling does not state the products contain monosodium glutamate (MSG). BEF Foods Inc., of  Columbus, Ohio, which makes Bob Evans brand products, issued the recall today for Maple Links and Maple Patties  produced at the company's Hillsdale, MI and Xenia, OH facilities.
