Fresh, Uncooked Ham Recalled by Embutidos Fanguito for Misbranding and Undeclared Soy and MSG

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)”s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced that Embutidos Fanguito, Inc., based in Miami, Florida, has recalled approximately 454 pounds of its fresh sliced ham product, “Jamon Vicky Lasqueado Smoked Flavor Added Sliced Cooked Ham & Water Product.” This recalled fresh ham product was mislabeled as being cooked. Its labeling also failed to list that the ham contained the soy allergen and Monosodium Glutamate (MSG). The recalled fresh sliced ham products were manufactured between April 18, 2017 and June 13, 2017 and distributed to locations throughout the state of Florida. There have been no reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of this product. For some people, MSG can cause headache, flushing, sweating, numbness, tingling, and burning, rapid, fluttering heartbeats, chest pain, nausea, and weakness. Bob Evans Recalls Almost 2 Million Pounds Of Sausage

Almost 2 million pounds of Bob Evans sausage products are being recalled because labeling does not state the products contain monosodium glutamate (MSG). BEF Foods Inc., of  Columbus, Ohio, which makes Bob Evans brand products, issued the recall today for Maple Links and Maple Patties  produced at the company's Hillsdale, MI and Xenia, OH facilities.
