Listeria Recall Prompts Closure of Spanish Sonrise Dairy in Yacolt, WA

A raw cream Listeria recall has prompted the closure of Spanish Sonrise Dairy in Yacolt, WA, The Columbian has reported. No illnesses have been reported in association with the recall, but the owners say it has prompted them to close the dairy ahead of schedule. During routine testing by the Washington State Department of Agriculture, Listeria was found in raw cream. All raw cow milk, goat milk and cream with expiration dates between April 16 and 21 is being recalled. Listeria can cause serious illness and death. Symptoms, which can take up to 70 days to develop, include fever, headache, stiff neck, muscle stiffness, and gastrointestinal symptoms.
