The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has just expanded the XL Foods beef recall for E. coli 0157:H7 contamination for the 14th time. Tenderized steak produced at XL Foods is linked to an E. coli 0157:H7 outbreak that has sickened at least eight people in Canada.
The brands that are recalled this time include Canada Safeway, PC, Douglas Meats, Marketplace Co-Op, Freson Brothers, Country Grocer, Thrifty Foods, and Ottenbreit’s Meats. The meat was sold nationwide at Walmart, Super A Foods, Bigway Foods, TGP Warehouse Market, Buy-Low Foods, Nesters Market, Sobeys, IGA, Price Chopper, T&T Supermarket, Osaka Supermarket, Loblaw, Les viandes P.P. Hallé Ltée, Provigo, Maxi, Maxi & Cie, No Frills, Real Canadian Wholesale Club, Shop Easy, SuperValu, Superstore, Westfair, and Your Independent Grocer. The cuts of beef include steaks, sirloin patties, ground beef, tenderloin, beef cubes, beef jerky, summer sausage, pepperoni, salami, beef for stew, beef heart, beef sausage, and other products. Look at the recall list carefully.
