Cuisinart Recalls Food Processors for Laceration Hazard

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Cuisinart is recalling about 25,000 of their 7 cup food processors for a laceration hazard. The reversible slicing/shredding disc can loosen when the processor is used, which can hit and break the cover. The cover can then hit consumers, posing a laceration hazard.

The recall is for nine models of Cuisinart food processors, including MFP-107, MFP-107BC, MFP-107BCWS, MFP-107BK, MFP-107BKWS, MFP-107DCWS, MFP-107MGSLT, and MFP-107MR or MFP-107WS. You can find the model number under the food processor base. The processors are sold in white, black, brush chrome, metallic gray, metallic red, and silver colors. There has been one report of an incident. One consumer was struck on the cheek by a piece of plastic that cracked and flew off while the reversible slicing disc was used.

The appliances were sold at Belk, Best Buy, Dillards, J.C. Benney, Macy’s, Sears, Williams-Sonoma and other stores nationwide and online. They were also sold at Amazon.com and Zappos.com from October 2012 through June 2013 for about $100.If you purchased any of these products, stop using them. Contact Cuisinart to receive a free placement lid and reversible slicing/shredding disc at 877-339-2543 from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm ET Monday through Friday.
