Fomosa Pork Jerky Recalled For Undeclared Wheat

Formosa Food Company Inc. of Hull, Iowa is recalling 1,133 pounds of a pork jerky that contained an undeclared allergen, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety Inspection Service (USDA FSIS). The product contains wheat, which is not declared on the label. No illnesses have been reported

recall-beef-jerkyThe recalled products were sold in 16-oz. individual packages labeled “Formosa Brand Pork Szu (Cooked Seasoned Dried Pork Product).” The establishment number “EST. 2446” is inside the USDA mark of inspection on the label. An expiration date does not appear on packaging.  The product was produced on various dates through Nov. 29, 2012 and sold through Internet and direct sales nationwide.

FSIS discovered the problem during a label review. The product contains soy sauce, which is made with wheat. Consumers who have eaten the product and had a reaction should see their health care providers.
