More Organic Carob Powder Recalled for Possible Salmonella

Sunfood of California is recalling organic carob powder because it may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of this product.

Recall SignThe recalled product is Organic Carob Powder in 1 pound, 20 pound, and 55 pound white poly bags. The recalled powder has these lot numbers: 140321,140416,140509,140516,140609,140616, and 140623. The UPC number is 803813-04429 8 and the expiration date is 6/5/2015. The product was distributed nationwide in retail stores and through mail order.

Routine testing by the company’s supplier revealed the possibility of Salmonella in the product. Production has been suspended while the FDA and the company try to find the source of the problem.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it.  Discard in a sealed, doubled bagged container or return to the place of purchase for a refund.
