August Foods Recalls Lamb Koftis for Undeclared Milk

August Foods Inc. in Pennsylvania is recalling about 20,520 pounds of lamb koftis that contain milk, one of the major food allergens, that is not declared on the label. Koftis are meatballs made of ground lamb and other ingredients.

  • Saffron Road Lamb Koftis entrees
  • 11 ounce cartons
  • Establishment number “EST. 34624”
  • Produced between June 15, 2011 and May 3, 2012
  • Sell-by dates of one year after production
  • Sell-by dates of June 15, 2012; July 19, 2012; July 20, 2012; October 5, 2012; May 1, 2013; May 3, 2013
  • Shipped to distribution centers in Illinois and Pennsylvania

One customer had a minor reaction after tasting the kofti. The “lamb broth” used to make the product is made by marinating lamb in yogurt. There have not been any other reports of adverse reactions associated with the consumption of this product.
