Listeria monocytogenes is a bacteria that can cause serious and life-threatening infections, especially for pregnant women, the very young, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. It’s important to note that pregnant women may only experience a mild flu-like illness, but an infection with Listeria can cause miscarriages and stillbirth.
