Ming’s Restaurant in Peterborough Ontario Linked to Salmonella Outbreak

The Peterborough County-City Health Unit in Peterborough, Ontario is reporting an outbreak of lab-confirmed cases of Salmonella food poisoning linked to Ming’s Restaurant on Lansdowne Street West. The restaurant has been ordered closed until government health officials can determine the source of the outbreak.

Salmonella photoPublic health officials are asking the public for help with this outbreak. Anyone who became ill with symptoms consistent with a Salmonella infection after eating at the restaurant on or after November 12, 2012 please contact the Health Unit at 705-743-1000, ext. 225. A Public Health Inspector will follow up on your call.

The symptoms of salmonellosis usually occur within 12 to 36 hours after exposure. They include sudden headache, abdominal pain and cramps, fever, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. Anyone with these symptoms should avoid preparing food for others and should wash their hands often.
